Practice for Beginners Barbara Kurland Sanctuary
For Beginners, or anyone interested, we will practice three chord change progressions in each key at your comfortable speed. We will also include strumming exercises and techniques. You will be given a handout that will enable you to practice chord progressions at home.

Chord Progressions Made Easy George Yount Board Room
Do you wonder how to play songs in different keys, or what people mean when they call out chord progressions 1-4-5? It’s simpler than it sounds, and with a little understanding you can take your eyes off the page and start hearing chord changes.

Tin Pan Alley Song Circle Patricia Bolen Social Hall
Hey, everybody, come play with me! We will sing tunes from the Tin Pan Alley song packet. If you don’t know the chords just sing louder!

Continued Registration
12:30 – 1:00
Regular Classes
1:00 – 2:00

Beginning Ukulele 1 Walter Vaux Board Room
This class is for beginners who are new to the ukulele. We will cover the basics, how to hold the ukulele, how to strum. We will learn three or four basic chords and practice them until they are easy to play. Finally, we will apply these basics to a three-chord song. You will be amazed that you will play this song and play it well. We have loaner ukes. Please bring a pencil and be sure to be on time.

Beginner Ukulele 2 Geoff Fong Sanctuary
You are now beyond Beginner 101. Geoff will share easy two and three chord tunes in various keys. He will expand your repertoire and lock in your muscle memory of chord progressions. Geoff will emphasize how you can learn to let your musical ear tell you when and which chord is appropriate to play.

Intermediate Uke 3 Ron Rivas Sunday School Classroom
Ron picks a series of tunes that will help you build your skills and confidence playing in the keys of F, C, G, D, and A. Most of the tunes will be out of the yellow Daily Uke book.

Playing the Great Half-Remembered Songs Bruce Cowan Social Hall
It’s fun to learn concepts and skills when you’re working on songs from the twentieth century. The class will cover two or three tunes from genres including swing, rock, pop, Broadway, folk, and blues. Music will be provided, and will include tablature and chord forms for ukulele and baritone ukulele. The class is meant for intermediate and advanced players who can confidently change chords in the common keys (C, G, F, D, A) and who might be ready to try playing melodies and new chord forms.

Refreshments and Announcements 2:00 – 2:30
Those with last names beginning with O thru V are asked to bring refreshments. Finger foods only, please.

Song Circle 2:30 – 3:30
All the classes will meet together where you will share one of the tunes you have learned. Then we will play the tunes selected for the Rhody Parade:
