This class is for beginners, those who have never played a ukulele or for those who want a basic brush-up.  We will take you through how to hold the ukulele, how to strum, and how to play some easy chords.  At the end of the session, you will be able to play several fun songs.

Intermediate Ukulele     Mike Johnson  Sanctuary
Learn Some and Have Some Fun
This class is tailored for the advanced beginner/intermediate player.

A quick review of some music theory concepts with just a bit of new added to get us started and then we’ll learn two tunes to hone our playing skills. There will be continuing work on some strumming dynamics and some playing chords “up the neck” to make the new tunes even more fun. Handouts and song sheets will be provided. SCT and Baritone uke players are all welcome. You should be comfortable playing chord progressions in several keys, but most importantly, be willing to have fun and maybe learn some new stuff.

Advanced Ukulele     Bruce Cowan   Social Hall

Playing the Great Half-Remembered Songs

Working on songs from the twentieth century is a fun way to learn musical concepts and ukulele skills. Bruce will continue the swing blues groove we started with C Jam Blues and teach “Centerpiece,” as performed by Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross. Sheet music is provided with standard notation, tablature, and chord forms for both ukulele and baritone ukulele. The class is meant for intermediate and advanced players who can confidently change chords in the common keys (C, G, F, D, A) and who might be ready to try playing melodies and new chord forms.
